Health Informed Housing Strategy
The Project
Volunteers of America is developing a senior affordable housing community in Colorado Springs, CO. Paloma Garden will have 126 units in two buildings in a campus-style setting with shared outdoor gardens, walking paths, and engaging programming and supportive services for low-income seniors to enjoy healthy lifestyles.
Our Role
Equity Policy Solutions conducted a Health Action Plan to recommend specific design and program elements that will improve the health and wellbeing of residents and reduce historic socioeconomic, health and racial inequities. We analyzed health and demographic data analysis, interviewed key stakeholders, and recommended evidence-based design and programming strategies to improve health for residents and the surrounding community.
