The Project
The City of Fort Collins, CO conducted a Land Use Code Update to expand access to affordable housing including an analysis of the existing code’s barriers to affordable housing development and engagement with key housing stakeholders to create a range of housing options that align with the City’s changing demographics and future growth needs.
Our Role
Equity Policy Solutions conducted an Equity Analysis of the proposed Land Use Code revisions to identify which groups of Fort Collins residents are historically or disproportionately impacted by lack of access to affordable housing; examined the current inventory of housing types compared with the needs for those groups; examined how the code revisions may benefit or burden those groups; and recommended specific evidence-based zoning regulations and strategies to increase access to affordable housing and reduce historic socioeconomic, health, and racial inequities.
