The Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation conducts public engagement to inform its triennial Highway Safety Plans as required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  Input is gathered from a range of community members impacted by highway crashes and fatalities, including young drivers, motorcyclists, child passengers, residents of rural areas, pedestrians and bicyclists impacted by speeding and impaired and unrestrained driving. The engagement plan includes analysis of listening sessions and past performance measures to recommend strategies to reach more at-risk drivers and improve overall highway safety.

Our Role

Equity Policy Solutions analyzed highway safety datasets, community engagement input and existing outreach efforts to develop an Engagement Plan that recommends strategies to reduce highway crashes and fatalities through targeted engagement efforts.
