Gretchen Armijo
AICP, LEED AP
Gretchen Armijo, AICP, LEED AP, founded Equity Policy Solutions in 2021 after a 20-year career in urban planning with a specialty in public health. Her area of expertise is healthy and equitable community development. She uses tools including health impact assessment, community engagement and evidence-based best practices to expand access to opportunity, guide public and private investment, and reduce systemic barriers that limit people from realizing their full potential.
Gretchen was the first Built Environment Specialist at the City of Denver, CO, where she implemented equitable development strategies in land use, housing, transportation, healthy food access and climate resilience and the environmental sectors. Adopted plans with an equity framework include the Denveright Comprehensive Plans, the Westwood Neighborhood Plan, the Far Northeast Area Plan, the National Western Center Master Plan, the Vision Zero Action Plan, and the Stadium District Master Plan, among others.
Gretchen previously held the same role at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, providing technical expertise to municipalities around the state. Gretchen teaches and lectures at the University of Colorado-Denver and Boulder and serves on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity-Metro Denver.
Gretchen received a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado-Denver, and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA.
